Born in Marquette, Michigan on July 4th, 1990, Thomas LaVoy is an emerging young composer of contemporary choral and piano music. In addition to his solo piano composition premiers and performances with small chamber ensembles and high school choirs, his choral work “White Stones,” a collaboration with poet Esther Ayers, was premiered by the New York Virtuoso Singers under the direction of acclaimed choral conductor Harold Rosenbaum on January 11th, 2009. Thomas is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Theory and Composition from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, where he has studied with Dr. Benjamin C.S. Boyle, Dr. Joel Phillips and Dr. James Goldsworthy.
